Once the gas cylinder leaks, except for the non-flammable gas, the other three categories of gas are easy to cause fire and human poisoning. Therefore, it is necessary to find out the causes of gas cylinder leakage and master the detection method of gas cylinder leakage.

Gas cylinder leakage mainly occurs at the cylinder valve, and the reasons are generally as follows:

1. The cylinder valve switch is loose, fails, and the cylinder valve is broken;

2. Cracks are formed due to inconsistent thermal expansion and cold contraction between the cylinder valve device and the cylinder body;

3. The connection between the pressure reducer and the cylinder body is not tightly sealed. The following methods can be used to check cylinder leaks:

1. Sensory method. That is to take the method of ear to hear, nose to smell. For example: hear cylinder "sizzle" sound or smell a strong pungent odor or peculiar smell, can be classified as leakage. This method is simple, but has limitations. It is not suitable for leak detection of highly toxic gases and some flammable gases.

2. Smear method. Apply the soapy water to the cylinder leak

if bubbles occur, it can be judged as air leakage. This method is commonly used and accurate, but it is strictly forbidden to use it when the oxygen cylinder is leaking, so as to prevent the oil in the soap water from contacting with oxygen and violent oxidation.

3. Balloon expansion method. Use a soft hose to cover the vent mouth of the gas cylinder, and connect the other end to the balloon. If the balloon expands, it indicates that there is air leakage. This method is most suitable for leak detection of highly toxic gas and flammable gas.

4. Chemical method. The principle of this method is that some chemicals prepared in advance are contacted with the gas at the leak detection point. If chemical reactions occur and certain appearance characteristics appear, it is determined to be gas leakage. For example the ethyl chlorine cylinder can be checked by dipping cotton in ammonia water close to the leak detection point, if chlorine white fog is produced, it is proof of gas leakage; To check the liquid ammonia cylinder, use the red litmus paper after being wet to approach the gas cylinder leakage point. If the test paper turns from red to blue, it indicates that the gas is leaking. This method is only used for some highly toxic gas leak detection.
