Diving mini air tanks are cylinders used to store and transport high pressure gas used in diving operations. This may be a breathing gas used with diving gear, in which case the cylinder may also be called a scuba cylinder, scuba cylinder, or diving cylinder. When used for emergency gas supply for surface-supplied diving or scuba diving, it may be called a rescue gas cylinder or rescue cylinder. It can also be used for surface-supplied diving or as a decompression gas. Diving mini air tanks can also be used to inflate dry suits or buoyancy compensators. The cylinders supply the diver with gas through the demand valve of the diving regulator or the breathing circuit of the diving rebreather. Mini air tanks for diving are usually made of aluminum alloy and when used in diving gear are usually equipped with one of two common types of cylinder valves for filling and connection to the regulator. Additional accessories such as manifolds, cylinder straps, protective nets and boots and carrying handles are available. Depending on the application, a diver can carry one or more cylinders while diving using harnesses in various configurations.
