How to Fill and Transport Oxygen Cylinders

Nov 08, 2022

Oxygen is a strong oxidizing gas. Compared with air, the ignition energy of explosive substances in oxygen becomes smaller, the burning speed becomes larger, and the explosion range becomes wider, that is, it is easier to catch fire and explode. Some metals can burn in oxygen under certain conditions. The higher the pressure of compressed pure oxygen, the stronger its combustion-supporting performance. Oxygen is highly corrosive to steel in wet or watery conditions.

The oxygen cylinder manufacturer adopts a tubular seamless structure. The neck of the upper bottle mouth is divided into necks. The transition between the bottle neck and the bottle body is called the shoulder, and the outer side of the bottle neck is fixedly connected with a collar. The lower end is generally concave. The bottle body is made of manganese steel, chromium molybdenum steel or other alloy steel. The medium-capacity steel cylinder commonly used by oxygen cylinder manufacturers has an outer diameter of 219mm, a volume of 40L, a height of about 1.5mm, a nominal working pressure of 15Mpa, and an allowable pressure of 18Mpa.

Bottle valves are generally made of copper, which is flame-retardant and not resistant to static electricity and mechanical sparks. The sealing material should have good flame retardant and sealing properties. The bottle cap of the oxygen bottle manufacturer protects the bottle valve from being knocked, and is connected with the collar through a thread. Generally, there are vent holes or side holes on the bottle cap to prevent the bottle valve from leaking and causing pressure on the bottle cap. Anti-vibration ring, two elastic rubber rings are set on the bottle body, which play the role of shock absorption and protection of the bottle body.

Oxygen cylinder manufacturers should strictly prevent mixing and overcharging when filling. The consequences of mixing are more serious, often due to the mixing of flammable gas, grease, etc., resulting in the explosion of the oxygen cylinder. Before filling the oxygen cylinders, they should be checked one by one. The main inspection contents are: whether the gas cylinder manufacturer has a gas cylinder manufacturing license; whether the outer surface color of the gas cylinder is the required light blue.
